The Valdosta Daily Times
If you felt a bit overwhelmed by last weekend’s South Georgia holiday events of concerts and dances, parades and festivals, plays and pageants, there’s still plenty of Christmas events to enjoy this week.
The Lake Park Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday.
Lowndes High School Off-Broadway presents the play “Jingle Jury” tonight.
Valdosta Choral Guild presents its annual
Christmas concerts Sunday afternoon and
Churches will host various concerts, cantatas, and more this weekend and in the days to come.
There was a time not too many years ago when every Christmas show, etc., was held on the first Saturday of December and that was just about it. Now, several consolidated church choirs kick off the Christmas shows with “The Messiah” on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and several other organizations have made the second Saturday their new tradition. Of course, as it has for years, the Outback Riders have made the third December Saturday the date for the Toy Ride which brings hundreds of toys via motorcycle for the Empty Stocking Fund.
It’s good to spread the Christmas cheer throughout the month.
So, trim the tree, do some shopping, then relax and enjoy some local entertainment for the season during the next few days.
