The Valdosta Daily Times
Tonight, the last of the three delightful productions of Peach State Summer Theatre makes its debut.
“A Little Night Music” joins “The Sound of Music” and “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” both already several shows into their season.
“A Little Night Music” is a saucier production, making it more suitable for older audiences. The Stephen Sondheim musical revolves around the relationship between several couples, with twists, mischief, and romance.
Among the songs Sondheim composed for the play, Send in the Clowns is the most well-known, and has been recorded by Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Judy Collins and Anthony Newley, among others.
All three productions will run in rotating repertoire until the Peach State season concludes on July 14.
The summer theatre at Valdosta State University is always a delight, and each year impresses with the ability to transport audiences to different eras through magical performances by very talented actors, actresses, singers, dancers, and technical assistants who bring it all to life.
If you haven’t yet been to one of the performances at VSU’s Sawyer Theatre in the Fine Arts Building, then you are missing out. You still have several chances, though, to see any of the three shows in production for the next few weeks, and chances are you’ll leave the theatre with a pep in your step and a song in your heart.
