VALDOSTA — For one night, you can indulge your sweet tooth while contributing to a worthy cause at the same time.

On Thursday night at Mathis Auditorium, Easter Seals is hosting Sweet Charity, a dessert-filled evening, with all proceeds benefitting their many programs.

Nearly a dozen local restaurants are participating and supplying desserts for the evening, which runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and includes a silent auction as well. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door.

The sweet-filled event is also a great time to learn about Easter Seals and the many benefits they provide to those with disabilities locally and around the country. Easter Seals programs touch many lives, from children with autism to veterans with post traumatic stress disorder. Rehabilitation and training programs, recreation programs, and much more are offered for children, adults and senior citizens. The goal of Easter Seals is to allow each individual the opportunity to live a rich and full live as independently as possible.

In Lowndes County, Easter Seals has the Options for Living apartments which provide independent living opportunities for young adults with disabilities and Megan’s House, a respite care home which provides are for children whose families need a break for a short time. In addition, locally, there is the Tri Memorial Group Home which  provides 24-hour care to medically fragile women.

The cause is worthwhile and well worth your time and money to support. The delicious evening event is sure to delight your taste buds and your participation will bring hope to others.
