THUMBS UP: To Stevie Young of Valdosta. The owner of Artistic Taxidermy, Young won Best in the World, Turkey, in the 2013 World Taxidermy Championship. His eastern wild turkey display dominated the competition, earning him the distinction of best in the world. Another title for TitleTown!
THUMBS UP: To the Salvation Army and its new thrift shop. Faced with diminishing business during the overpass construction on Highway 84, the Salvation Army sought and found a new location for its thrift store at 1015 N. Ashley St. The thrift store offers great deals and helps fund the Salvation Army’s many community programs.
THUMBS UP: To Community Depot for naming its center for former Valdosta State University First Lady Joan Bailey. The wife of the late Dr. Hugh Bailey, Mrs. Bailey has been a force for good in the Valdosta community for decades. With Community Depot helping the Red Cross, the Humane Society and Easter Seals, good will continue being done in Mrs. Bailey’s name.
THUMBS UP: To Frank Eldridge who will be inducted this January into Georgia’s Golf Hall of Fame. At 75, Eldridge has played golf for more than 60 years. He’s won numerous tournaments and continues playing the game. Congratulations!
