The Valdosta Daily Times
If The Times weekly poll is any indication, there are far more Broncos fans in South Georgia than there are Seahawks fans.
Last week, we asked readers which team they wanted to win the Super Bowl. As of Friday afternoon, the poll claimed 56 percent of respondents wanted the Broncos, 18 percent wanted the Seahawks, and 26 percent responded, “Don’t care. My team already lost.”
Though a quarter of respondents claim they don’t care, there will still be a great deal of interest in the Super Bowl tonight. Many will watch who have rarely watched either team play. Even folks who watch no other football games may watch the Super Bowl. And many football fans and non-fans alike will attend parties this evening.
That means a lot of folks may be out on the road before and after the game tonight.
If a person plans to attend a party and drink have a designated driver.
If a person is throwing a Super Bowl party, and is serving alcoholic beverages, provide plenty of alternative non-alcoholic drinks, plenty of food, and keep an eye on the guests. By game’s end, hosts should be prepared to call a cab for a guest who’s had too much to drink, offer guests a ride home if the host is sober, or plan to give guests a place to sleep until morning.
A lot of people may say they do not care who wins the game, but we should all care about people being safe and smart during the Super Bowl.
