-- — THUMBS UP: To Tim Coombs. The Hahira businessman volunteers with a motorcade to help hospitalized veterans, preserves the past with the Hahira Historical Society, and keeps the town nice looking by supporting Keep Lowndes/ Valdosta Beautiful. His dedication helps keep the region beautiful.



THUMBS UP: To April Thomas. The Valdosta State University Blazer was named the Gulf South Conference's women's player of the week. Thomas' highlight performance came last week when she helped the Blazers overcome a 16-point deficit to beat the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers 89-81.

THUMBS UP: To all of the area students who made honor roll during the last nine-weeks period of school. The Times begins publishing the honor roll lists in Sunday's newspaper.



THUMBS UP: To Adel. The Cook County city hosts  one in a series of statewide debates between the Republican candidates seeking one of Georgia's seats in the U.S. Senate tonight. The debate gives South Georgians the opportunity to see and hear in person the people hoping to take the place of Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is not seeking reelection.
