Whenever the Air Force’s entertainment talent, Tops In Blue, comes to town thanks to Moody Air Force Base, it’s always a special event.
But it’s become even more special with the knowledge that Barry Best of South Georgia also serves as the song-and-dance troupe’s musical director. Best is a musician whose connection to Tops In Blue started in 1993 and developed by 1995 into the music director’s position. In this job, he helps select the show’s annual cast and arranges the musical selections.
Best is quick to note that Tops in Blue shows are not about him. The group is about giving active-duty Air Force members the chance to perform, tour and share their musical talents.
Tops In Blue is about entertaining Air Force personnel and their families in base towns throughout the United States and around the world. Air Force personnel and families receive first seating. Once they are seated, any additional seats are available, for free, to the public, so Tops In Blue is also a gift to the community.
So, if you are a civilian member of the public and want to see this premier group, go with the knowledge that Air Force is seated first then it’s first-come, first-serve. But it is a show well worth even the slightest chance of seeing and well worth welcoming these talented Air Force men and women to town.
