Daly’s return a boost for Valdosta

The Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA — Flashy, colorful and always a hit with the fans for his long drives and humble demeanor, John Daly’s return to Kinderlou Forest and the South Georgia Classic is a boon for Valdosta.

Daly can be counted on to give a great performance on the course, always giving it his all. No one on the PGA tour hits the ball like Daly and no one, with the exception of Tiger Woods, can touch him in popularity among the masses.

Fans eager for a driving display will not be disappointed following Daly around the course, as his long game is his strength. The course at Kinderlou is a fantastic match for Daly’s stellar driving skills, and his familiarity with the course from last year’s tournament should put him in contention this year.

In addition to the draw of Daly, Valdosta needs to remember that the tournament is the largest economic draw for the city each year, bringing between $3.5 and $4 million into the local economy over the weeklong Classic. Perhaps the city should consider a proclamation or a key to the city in appreciation for the tournament and to thank Daly for his support and participation.

In the meantime, the Times would like to thank John Daly for returning to Valdosta this year,             and remind him he is always welcome in our community.
