THUMBS UP: To Georgia State Patrol Trooper Brian Bass. Earlier this week, two men reportedly abducted a woman and her 5-year-old daughter. The woman was able to call her boyfriend, who reported the kidnapping to authorities. An Amber Alert led to Bass stopping the burgundy Ford Ranger carrying the two suspects, the woman and the child during a Lowndes County traffic stop. The mother and child returned home in time for Christmas. The two suspects went to jail. Job well done, Trooper Bass.
THUMBS UP: To all who gave of their time, energy, money, talents and generosity this Christmas season. From the Empty Stocking Fund to community feeds to motorcycle toy rides and clothing giveaways and bicycle raffles, the community came together to help their neighbors during this season of giving.
THUMBS UP: To Lakeland for its ongoing efforts to bring history alive. For 15 years, Lakeland has installed murals depicting scenes from the Lanier County town’s past. Now, it is adding recorded dramatizations to the murals which visitors can hear through their smart phones. The combination of murals and recordings present the town’s past in a compelling way.
