The Valdosta Daily Times
The public reception for the 26th Annual Spring Into Art exhibit at the Turner Center for the Arts is tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets for the opening event are $45 per person and help to fund shows such as this which draw tremendous participation from the community as well as support for the arts.
The Annette Howell Turner Center is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year at the former bank location which has now become their home. Thanks to the generosity of many supporters, especially Loyce Turner and family for making the donation that allowed the arts center to acquire the property and for allowing his late wife’s name to forever be associated with the arts community.
Valdosta is a hub for the arts and artists, and if you have any doubt, then make plans to view the artwork that will be on display over the next several weeks. The juried exhibit has had to expand into the entire arts center this year, and is the largest yet in its 26 years. Photography, oil and watercolor paintings, collages, pottery, three dimensional art, sculpture, fabric art, and much much more are all entered into the competition, which draws from the entire region.
The support and recognition local artists receive from the Turner Center helps to foster and encourage their talents, and draws other artists to our community. Being known as supportive of the arts is one of the essential quality of life issues that attracts others to Valdosta.
Congratulations to the artists who created the more than 500 pieces on exhibit at the center this month, and Happy Anniversary Turner Center for the Arts!
