What We Think

April 6, 2014

Take some kid time this week

-- — Spring break returns this week for many South Georgia schools. Both Valdosta and Lowndes County school systems are out through the week for the traditional spring break.

Hard to believe, isn’t it?

Seems like the school year just started, and here we are at spring break and a countdown of days until this school year comes to a close.

While area children may have a week to enjoy themselves, most adults will continue working their jobs throughout the week.

This may be a good week to ask for an early afternoon off, or to take a personal day. Or stay up a little later and watch a weeknight movie with the kids. Or make one evening a family game night since there are no school nights this week.

Parents should do as much as they can to spend a little time with children this week while children have the time.

Because it will happen in the proverbial wink of the eye. Those children will be grown and gone.

Hard to believe, isn’t it?

But it is the truth of generations.
