No, you are not required to stop for a school bus if you are on the other side of a divided highway.

The school keeps requiring kids to bring 1.44 MB Floppy disks to hold their work. Incredible. You can't just buy one, you have to buy 10 for $11. A USB flash drive with 128 mb can be had for $10, holds over 88 floppy disks worth of data, and does not transmit viruses. School computers are lousy with viruses from all the floppy disks. Come on, teachers. Upgrading all your technology is wasted money if you don't upgrade your minds.

So what you were saying is there should be no alcohol sales on days when people worship. I guess we should condemn alcohol on Wednesdays also because the churches are full. I believe in God and am not an alcoholic. Let people decide.

Thumbs down to the VDT for not pointing out that to have an energy policy we have to rid ourselves of the "Greenie" influence in our society. Otherwise, the sky is the limit for gas prices.

The mother of the 5-year-old boy having tantrums in the store pharmacy area Thursday afternoon needs to attend parenting classes immediately. I'm a parent and early childhood teacher. The child tried to destroy the electronic device on the counter until the cashier had to intervene. The child called the cashier “stupid.” The mother needs to take control of her child now.

In keeping with the logic of VSU's centennial celebration, I'm going to celebrate my 40th birthday over the course of the next seven years.

A resident at the Thursday night City Council meeting said, “If the alcohol referendum is passed, strip joints and homosexual bars will pop up all over the city." That statement right there says more about the thinking in this community than any debate, poll or general discussion.

Our local congressmen appears to be AWOL. Any chance we'll see or hear from them before the next election?

A big thank you to the Hahira mailman, Lewis, who always bring our mail on time and we can expect him everyday without fail. We appreciate him and wish there were more out there like him.

I'm sorry. You must not understand the Georgia law on Sunday sales. It is only for restaurants, no bars. You have to sell so much food vs. alcohol. That means Longhorn, Texas Roadhouse, Red Lobster, etc. It doesn't matter, they will drink no matter. Go ahead and get the sales tax. Improve your town.

Using gays as an excuse to ban Sunday alcohol sales is pathetic. What do you care what someone does in their own home? And if you don't like a gay bar, don't go in. If you don't drink on Sunday, that is your choice. Just because I live in this town doesn't mean I want you to force your religion on me. You can choose to go to church, and I'll decide what I should do.

Some of us are old enough to remember when Valdosta had farm teams of the Dodgers, Tigers, and then the Browns. Summers were great at the now defunct Pendleton Park diamond. As a little girl, I sat with my dad and cheered and kept score. What fun to have our own professional club.

I have no doubt the alcohol referendum will pass this time. When it does, none of the restaurants that pushed for it will get my business any day of the week. Are you paying attention?
