Rant & Rave for Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009

Thank you for your comments in Friday's editorial regarding Coach Tomberlin. What a shame it is that 99.99 percent of Wildcat fans support him and his program and a select few run the school board's decision.

VDT, thanks for having the intestinal fortitude to speak out for the coach and players at VHS and for chiding the school board. Isn't it possible that the superintendent and BOE being so insensitive and lacking insight on this issue could have also been wrong on the viewing of President Obama’s speech? Just saying that good judgment, timing, and intuition seem to be somewhat of a challenge for them.

To the person who painted their house red in Academy Acres, what were you thinking?

So good to see so many parents attending Valdosta School Board meetings — too bad it's for the wrong reason.

I have endured another Friday night football game from Lowndes High broadcasted on the radio. We need some new announcers that don’t scream and holler so loud that we don’t know if we are winning or losing.

As a so-called Valdosta Wildcats fan, I would like to rave about the person or people responsible for firing Rick Tomberlin. Because it’s about the kids — the kids want to win.

Many humble thanks to several who expressed their gratitude to my Air Force husband of 20 years as we dined in Tifton for lunch. As with many in the military, he is quite modest (thus his persistent refusal of your offers to pay), and does not see himself as a hero, but rather just doing his duty. Nonetheless, your kindness truly fills our hearts.

The Valdosta Daily Times don't have anything better to write about than Valdosta State Prison. Enough is enough. The inmates that are housed at the prison or any prison are not there because they were good citizens. They are there because they are rapists, murderers, and child molesters. I'm pretty sure that anyone that works at a prison knows it is a dangerous job, if they don't like it, then they should go work elsewhere.
