Rant & Rave for Thursday, August 21, 2008

The Valdosta Daily Times

Houses in Valdosta are about $20,000 more than they should be? That is perhaps the most idiotic statement ever published in the Rant and Rave.

No playground at a new elementary school is terrible, but so is a new school with so little playground area (Berrien Elementary) that kids can't run around and just have to hang out. Remember this is 8-11 year olds.

When will officials realize that if you work you won’t qualify for food stamps for the most part? Food stamps are excuses for people to sit around and have more kids simply because they get more government money. I think that welfare is the demise of this country.

Why is a certain cable company allowed to have the monopoly in our area? Their service is below par and the customer service is worse than that, but the charges are extreme.

I found the article regarding ‘Sordid Lives’ to be very offensive. There is enough sordidness in everyday life without bringing it to the stage. If this is culture, God forbid that I ever become cultured.

Thanks for the great service I received at the drivers' license office on Thursday. Everyone was courteous, friendly, and helpful. Also, the wait was not long at all.

I love the food at the 100 Black Men event every year. Who cares how silly the name of this event sounds? Everyone knows that white men (and women) are welcomed too. If anything, the name of the event suggests women are not allowed. I don't hear any women complaining about the name.

A four-day school week, what are they thinking? The 10-hour work days are one thing but a 10-hour school day. PreK kids are 4-years-old. It takes all they can do with seven hours and that includes a nap.
