Lowndes County commissioners need to get their priorities straight. Instead of a horse arena, use the money to pave our dirt roads and do not charge us for dumping our trash at the recycling center. Remember this at election time.

I don’t want a an oil rig or a nuclear power plant in my back yard and I am not complaining about the price of anything. It does no good to complain. Government could care less what we think or how we suffer. Time to face facts. Complaining is a waste of time.

I have not heard of one single terrorist attack involving a nuclear power plant. But I have heard of some liberal politicians throwing a fit at the thought of developing energy from wind on the east coast ...had something to do with blocking their view from their huge houses. Bottom line is that for over 30 years we have gotten nothing but lip service from our politicians when it comes to energy. It is time to hold them accountable.

I would like to thank the sweet lady in line at Wal-Mart on Monday. My son enjoyed helping you. Thank you in return for being so kind to him. You really made his day. He talked about you for hours. I will think of you and your mother and her illness and pray for you both.

The stories of Disney World and NASCAR wanting to come to Valdosta are nothing but urban myths. In the last 20 years, NASCAR has only added tracks in Los Angeles, Chicago, Kansas City and Miami. How ignorant do you have to be to think they would add Valdosta to that list?

I still chuckle every time I read about the mysterious bigshots that secretly conspire to keep higher paying industry out of our town in order to insure low wages for the masses. That cracks me up.

You want to know why your wages are so low? Find yourself a mirror and look hard. You'll find the answer.

Regarding solid waste, the VDT wrote "However, they (county commission) should have had a plan in place before they even brought this issue up." I couldn't disagree more. They should have engaged the county in dialogue about what the problem is and work in a transparent way to solve it. Not just dictate from above what is best for the citizens.

High taxes are a way for the government to control our behaviors. The argument isn't about if cigarettes are bad for you, they are. But people still privately smoke. It's their choice. Just as eating at McDonald's on occasion is mine. We are Americans, free to make bad choices and live with them.

For those who are scared to have a redneck stop to help them, don't call the Fire Department after 5 o’clock.

All of us city dwellers are also paying county taxes. We shouldn't be excluded from the dump sites. How about lowering my county taxes to offset the county services I can't use?
