Rant & Rave for Wednesday, July 1, 2009

The Valdosta Daily Times

If Valdosta is such a metropolitan city, why is it that if I need to see a specialist, I have to drive several hours to either Jacksonville or Tallahassee?

It never ceases to amaze me, how many people consider themselves "Christians" then constantly point out the flaws, and sins of others — maybe instead of pointing the finger at what others should not be doing, you should consider looking at ways to improve yourself.

We would like to thank everyone who worked Labor and Delivery the week of May 27th. We lost our newborn son and everyone involved was so good to us. There were two very special nurses, Lindsey and Lara, whom were such a blessing to us. Your dedication and all that you did will never be forgotten.

I have called and e-mailed about the solid waste form not being attached online to send in with our payment of $100. It still is not on there. No one seems to do their job as they should in some offices. We did not receive a form in the mail either so when it is time for the deadline, don't expect me to pay a late fee!

We would like to express how great Jesse at Carson McLane Funeral Home was to us as we had to make arrangements for our newborn son. It has been a few weeks now, but it was a very difficult time in our lives and he was very helpful, patient and understanding. Thanks for all that you did for us.

A very big thank you to VSU President and Mrs. Schloss. My son, an incoming freshman, learned first-hand how student-focused both of them are. They made his first experience at VSU a great one! Thanks again for your help with orientation!

It is a June night in South Georgia. There is a quarter moon shining and a gentle breeze blowing. A faint smell of the smoke from the cooking fires of the restaurants and our neighbors is in the air. We may never come this way again. Must we complain?

I have an idea. Why don't we all stop working and stand by each business in Valdosta and panhandle ourselves. That way we all win. Stop feeling sorry for the panhandlers and maybe they will go away.
