I can now say that it has snowed in the South in the month of May. What a snow job the undersecretary of the Air Force, Bill Anderson, gave at Mathis. Does he really believe what he said? We should “forgive and forget” what has happened and think of all the “new money” we can make with the new company that has bought the project? "Redneck" does not mean stupid. It means we are hardworking, honest folks, who work while the sun burns our necks to provide for our families.
People need to learn to live within their means. I’m a supervisor with a nationwide satellite company that services this area, and people are constantly calling asking for free equipment upgrades because they are “loyal customers,” but are two months behind on their bill. So, when we say, no we can't give that to them, they think we are wrong and our customer service is poor.
Thanks Kingston and Air Force Rep. Anderson for another boondoggle meeting on the Moody housing non-project. Everyone knows there was a crime committed. Anderson and the DOJ don't want the local sheriff’s help. No one has lost their job. As a local contractor that has dealt with the local Air Force contracting office, I can only surmise that Anderson's reluctance to allow local law-enforcement involvement supports what some of us might have concluded; another government cover-up of incompetence.
Teachers write positive comments on report cards because they are told to do so. I teach at a school where I have to fill in a nice comment when I didn't have one. Saying that children are a joy to have in class and that they make teaching fun is a standard comment. Fabricators and liars we are not. We just follow directives well.
On each gallon of gas sold, the oil companies make a profit of about eight cents. Meanwhile, the combined federal and state taxes on each gallon run from a low of 26.4 cents in Alaska to a high of 62.9 cents in New York. So who is doing the price gouging, the oil companies or the government?
Instead of spending taxpayer money on TV/DVD combos, computers, iPods, digital cameras and new cars to inspire students to study hard, why not have a field trip to see the homeless? Teachers can then tell their students that if they don't study hard and apply themselves, that's how they're going to end up.
If you travel Highway 84 East on a regular basis, please be aware of the speed trap as you come across the railroad tracks heading east into downtown. The speed limit drops to 35 right as you are coming over the tracks.
To the genius that suggested that the more successful homeowners pay for transporting the so called “homeless” to shelters, I have news for you. I live in Stone Creek and have no inheritance; I was born poor, and have no college degree. I worked hard and became successful on my own. I have never received any assistance from anyone. If you think I should pay for those that choose not to work, think again.
