Rant & Rave for Monday, May 12, 2008

It sure is nice we have enough tax money for an artificial turf for a football field but we have to pay to dispose of our garbage. Sounds like we got our priorities straight.

The homeless people are becoming a problem. It looks bad for our community. There have been several times I have offered them food, but all they want is money. Just today, I saw the man who frequently stands at the mall exit at the Flash Foods buying a lighter. He was wearing a brand new pair of Nikes and fresh clothes. Now why would I give him money? It's annoying to see people who can earn a living for themselves trying to take from me.

I'm also in disbelief that the local judges involved in the corrupt system are getting off the hook with a resignation, especially when the other elected officials that were following their orders were indicted and are being punished. I guess they ran the show their way to the very end. At least now we're rid of them. They should not be allowed to practice law at this point.

Hello, South Georgia. I am writing from North Carolina. I left Echols County May 2 taking the scenic route and that it was. Now I can say Valdosta don’t complain about the condition of your roads or the price of gasoline. Be happy that you can drive without falling into a pothole that won't swallow your whole tire, and that your gas prices are still a little lower than the they are here $3.79 per gal.

Vagrants are human beings. They are in most towns and cities. I have been in various cities and also worked in Washington, D.C. for more than 20 year’s and not a day went by without seeing vagrants. Pray for them and thank God for your blessings.

In order to reduce gas prices, we must reduce consumption of gas by staying at home and taking less trips.

To the members of the 823rd who are upset because lack of a homecoming, I am a Vietnam veteran and I have been waiting for 40 years. That is something to think about.

It is stories like the Coffee High seniors situation that endear me to Valdosta and make me look forward to every visit I make. Though the town may have its growing pains, it still has that Southern hospitality I loved so much as a kid, when I would spend my summers there with my grandmother. Nice job Wild Adventures, Disney and VSU for coming through.
