Rant & Rave for Friday, May 9, 2008
Keller Wilcox murdered a woman, buried her body, and years later is freed from prison. William Earl Lynd murdered a woman, buried her body, and years later is executed. There is something very wrong here.
I am sick of people complaining about high gas prices when all of the new vehicles I see on the road are giant, gas-guzzling SUVs and pickup trucks. Owners of these unnecessary vehicles are only helping the gas prices to climb to record highs.
Vagrants prey upon our better natures. If those of you who have been giving them money will just stop, they will go away.
You know the vagrants on Exits 16 and 18 really serve a purpose, they add to the overall unkempt appearance of these already nasty exits. If we’re going to allow it to stay this nasty, might as well keep it authentic looking. Next time you drive by these exits take a look. All you see is trash and overgrown grass and bushes and such. When is Valdosta going to take a stand and clean up this town? We have so much to be thankful for here in Valdosta but yet we set such a bad example to those visiting our town.
Do you know that if we put a major tax on the oil industry, or any industry for that matter, the tax is passed down to the consumers? Just ask the tobacco industry and/or any smoker. If Hillary Clinton gets her way, we'll soon have $5/gallon gasoline.
How is it that visitors to schools must show ID and check in with the front office and any stranger can walk up to the students using the track at Valdosta Middle School. They need a fence for protection especially from the prisoners they had working there last week.
Please stop telling those complaining about gas prices to ride a bike, get a horse or walk. First of all, riding a bike or walking is not logical when you have kids to get to school that is 15 miles or more away. Second, it would cost more to house and feed a horse per month than it would to buy gas.
What happened to watering odd houses on odd days and even houses on even days? Has anyone seen the rivers lately? The county should start writing fines.
