Rant & Rave for Thursday, May 8, 2008

The Valdosta Daily Times

Grateful grandfather! I'd like to rave about the service of Ace Lock and Key. When my son-in-law accidentally locked my grandson in the car, Ace Lock and Key was called to unlock the car. They unlocked it right away and did not charge for the service. I wish other companies cared about their customers like they do.

Yeah we don't drill in Alaska or off the Florida coast nor do we use our own natural resources. That's a decision of our lawmakers, but who lobbies those lawmakers? The answer is the environmentalist groups.

Hey Valdosta and Lowndes! I have been looking for a job since last July and found nothing. You call yourself Winnersville and you can't supply a retired veteran a job? What kind of metro status do you claim anyway if you can't be a place to work? GDOL has done their best to help me, why not you?

Recently, we had to get up and move in order to enjoy a movie that was clearly not for children. Yet despite the little one's announcing its fear, the parents stayed on. Don’t ask who is to blame for unruly kids. The twig is first bent at home and that decides how the tree will grow.

Yes, someone does have to purchase and maintain the property used for waste disposal. I do and you do. We are called tax payers.

I appreciate the column and the VPD's response regarding vagrants. I hope this issue is not dropped. I don't like going and running simple errands by myself anymore. I also hope Valdosta citizens (and visitors) use this information to be more aware of their surroundings and alert to those around them.

Water issues in Remerton can be solved by connecting to Valdosta's great water supply. Case solved.

The politicians are now saying that if we suspend the gas tax, we'll not see any new highway projects. After having to deal with four years of I-75 road work, that statement seems more like a positive instead of a threat.
