I.M. (Ivey) Starling, 74, of Valdosta, died on November 8, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 18, 1939 in Statenville, Georgia to the late Arren and Lola Herndon Starling and has been a lifelong resident of Valdosta. He was a retired self-employed carpenter/sub-contractor and was of the Church of God faith. He was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Morris Jr. and Mary Starling of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte Hawley and David Kelch of Lake Park; grandchildren, Leila Starling of Lake Park, Ashley Hawley of Valdosta, Amy Hawley of Lake Park, Brianna Kelch of Lake Park, Scott Starling of LaFayette, Georgia, Paul Boren of Summerville, Georgia, Darren Starling of LaFayette, Georgia, Allen Starling of Summerville, Georgia; two sisters, Irma Jean Starling of Valdosta and Carolyn Jackson of Nashville, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Lucy Leila Ratliff Starling, a sister and five brothers.
Services for I.M. Starling will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
