Monette Taylor Ward, 97, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013.
Mrs. Ward was born in Graceville, Fla., on Sept. 2, 1915, to the late Willie J. Taylor Sr. and Jessie Fountain Taylor. In her earlier years, she attended New Hope Assembly of God Church and then became a member of the Graceville First Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Ward managed Ward’s Grocery with her late husband, K.V. Ward, and was active in the Graceville Garden and Woman’s Club. Living in Valdosta for the past several years, she was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Cleatus Taylor, Willie J. Taylor Jr., and three sisters, Clyde Taylor, Nettie Merl Ward, Annie Ruth Land.
She is survived by her beloved children, Annette Ward White and husband Jimmy of Valdosta; Matthew Lynn Ward and his partner Larry Barton, Decatur, Ga.; brother, Adolphus J. Taylor and wife Catherine, Texas; two grandchildren, Stanley White, Valdosta, Michael White and wife Helen Slingluff White, Savannah; six great-grandchildren, Sarah Nelson, Skyler White, Nicholas White, Isabella White, Ethan White, Jay White; two great-great-grandchildren, Jakson Nelson, Luke Nelson; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Valdosta. A reception will follow in the parish hall. — James & Lipford Funeral Home
