Barbara J. Holmes

-- — Barbara J. Holmes was born on March 12, 1947 to Ruby Martin (the late Buion Martin, Step father) and the late John Lee Demps Sr. She was the eldest of Ruby’s five children. Barbara was born in Miami, Fla., but she spent the majority of her life in Suwannee County. Barbara had no children of her own but she was a mother figure to LaDale Baker, Michael Martin, Freddie Holmes, Dominique and Demetria Hardman.

She leaves to cherish her life and commermorate her date, a loving mother,  Ruby B. Martin; five devoted and caring sisters, Fabiola Gaines of Lake Mary, Fla.; Eunice Demps of Orlando, Fla.; Jeanette Hudson (Glen) of Ft. Washington, Md.; Lou Vera Baker, and Patricia Maxwell of Live Oak, Fla.; one brother, John L. Demps, Jr. of Africa; Five uncles, Benjamin Holmes and Albert Troy Demps (Lisa) of Orlanda, Fla.; five aunts, Lilly Demps Wood (Tony), and Bernice Demps of Orlando, Fla.; Elzabeth Calhoun of Pittsburg, Pa.; Theresa St. James of Runner Meade, N.J., Annette Norris of Valdosta, Ga., Oretha Demps of Flint,  Mich.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; god sisters, Anette McCaaskell and Hazel Holland of Live Oak, Fla.;  and god brother Braxton Linton.

Home going celebration for Ms. Barbara Holmes, of Live Oak, Fla. will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Mt. Moriah IAME Church, Live Oak, Fla. The Rev. Floyd Jones is the pastor and will officiate. Burial will follow in the Green Brier Cemetery, Live Oak, Fla. The Holmes family will receive other relatives and sorrowing friends from 7-9 p.m., this evening, March 21, 2014 also at Mt. Moriah IAME Church. — Eric A. Brown & Son Funeral Home
