Timothy Grant Linder

The Valdosta Daily Times

-- — Timothy Grant Linder, 52,  was born in Brooks County to the late Lillian Gaines Linder and Abraham Grant Linder.  To this union three children were born. Preceding him in death was Roland Linder and Kenneth Russell Linder.

Timothy was raised in a church setting where his parents attended.  He was a member of Graham Chapel C.M.E. Church where he attended a lot when his mother was living; he also attended St. James Baptist Church where his father attended.

Upon graduation at Brooks County High School in 1980, Timothy joined the United States Air Force.  He entered this organization in July 1980 and became a Material Handling Specialist.  During his military career, he achieved many service medals, ribbons and achievement medals.  One of Timothy’s fondest times was when he was assigned in England (RAF Lakenheath).  While there, he got an opportunity to play football, a sport we all know he loved so dear.  He was one of the hard hitters there on the line (defensive tackle #91) and he had many stories of his time there.  He always said that was the best time in his Air Force career. Tim completed his military career and retired with many honors and with an honorable discharge.  He completed 22 years in the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant visiting places like: RAF Lackenheath, Malmstrom AFB, McGuire AFB, Moody AFB and many other locations.

After Tim’s retirement from the Air Force, he worked in the Valdosta Correctional Facility for a short time and then fully retired.  He resided in Quitman, Ga.

Timothy leaves to cherish his memories one sister-in-law; Dannie Linder; four nieces; Kecia Linder, Rhonda Linder, Acheera Linder and Tia Linder all of Bronx, N.Y.; one great niece, MarKisha Billups; two great nephews; Marcus Billups and Aamier Linder of Bronx, N.Y.; one great-great nephew, Mikahari Joseph of Bronx, N.Y.; a very, very special friend, Niki Bevard; and a host of family, friends and other relatives.
