Lamar W. McKee, 81, of Hahira, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Bailey, Miss. on Feb. 20, 1932 to the late Levi Wesley and Willie Mae Williamson McKee. Mr. McKee was retired from Davis Air Conditioning. He was a well loved and respected husband, father and grandfather. Mr. McKee was a faithful and longtime member of Greenwood Baptist Church where he served as an usher and on the properties committee. He was famous for his delicious bar b que chicken.
Mr. McKee is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Peggy McKee of Hahira; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Kae McKee; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jimmy Cleary all of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Salome McKee of Hahira and daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Joey Barrett of Pine Mountain, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Nic Sinkule (Lachrisha), Erin Mackie (Erik), Wesley McKee, Christopher Cleary, Jana Moots (Will), Will McKee, Trey McKee, Nickie McKee, Allie Hughes, Brittney Wiggins, Zachary Douthit, Ella Barrett and Javen Barrett; four great-grandchildren, Edward Mackie, Jennifer McKee, Will Moots III and Elisa Moots, three nephews, Darrel McKee, Wesley Belk and Horace Belk.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with the Rev. Michael Bass, the Rev. Sammy Reaves and the Rev. Chip Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
