Mary Frances Crosby, 71, of Valdosta, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Crosby was born Dec. 4, 1941, to the late Eugene Jacob and Edna Pearl Ruis Fender.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Crosby of Valdosta; children, Joe B. Jr. and Rhonda Wheeler of Quitman, Sharon Roush of Valdosta, LuAnne Higgs and special friend, Wallace Cooper of Quitman, Jonathan Brooks and Dana Wheeler I of Quitman, Charles Wayne and Laura Wheeler of Valdosta, and Deana and Roger Reed-Smith of Lowndes County; grandchildren, Courtney Wheeler, Carli Wheeler, Candis and Jay Wilson, Danielle Roush, Jennifer Roush, Brooks and Ninah Wheeler, Shelly Wheeler, Alyson Wheeler, Katie Wheeler, Kristin Wheeler, Justin Wheeler, and Brock Reed; five great- grandchildren; stepchildren, Jimmie Michael Crosby and friend Rhonda of Valdosta, Cyntha Ann and Tom Saunders of Florida, Gary Dewayne and Meredith Crosby of Naylor; sisters, Carolyn Jones of Florida, Jean Gornto of Kentucky, Marsha Wheeler of California, and Wanda Wallace of Florida; brothers, Orbie Fender of Florida, and Eddie Fender of Florida.
Mrs. Crosby was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kelli Wheeler and Dustin Peek; one sister, Shelly Zebendon; two brothers, Arthur Fender and Jerry Fender.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Sauls officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home.
