Henry Alvin Browning, 72, of Quitman, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Browning was born May 7, 1941, to General Jackson and Iella Lasseter Browning. He was a farmer and businessman and attended Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Latrelle Browning of Quitman; three sons, Michael Browning of Quitman, Scott Browning of Valdosta, and Ashley Browning of Hahira; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Andy Boykin of Hahira; nine grandchildren, Marie Joyner, Scott Browning II, Sherie Browning Maine, Henry Browning, Elizabeth Hiers, Jackson Browning, Taylor Giddens, Abby Boykin, and Andy Boykin II; 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Story of Cartersville, Lorene Neely of Quitman, Janie Hart of Berlin, and Brenda Courtney of Tocca, Ga.; one brother, Clamon Browning of Lake Park.
Mr. Browning was preceded in death by his parents, General Jackson and Iella Browning; one grandson, Will Hiers; two brothers, Remer Browning and Albert Browning; one sister, Christelle Sellers.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Klay Luke officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home.
