Sylvester Dudley

VALDOSTA —   Mr. Sylvester Dudley was born on March 25, 1952, in Quitman, to the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Mattie Newsome Dudley. He departed this life on Monday, May 13, 2013.

 He attended the Brooks County School System. During his lifetime, he worked on several jobs. In later years, he became Self-Employed. He was known to help anyone that he came in contact with. He worked for many years at Stevens Funeral Home. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Thomas J. Haynes.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers,  William Dudley, Johnny Dudley and Jimmy Dudley, two sisters,  Rachel Mays and Rosie Lee White.

 He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted daughter and son, Kimberly Dudley and Sylvester L. Dudley both of Valdosta, wife, Helen Dudley of Valdosta, children, Angela Griffin of Cairo, Ga., Jeffery Dudley of Valdosta, Yevonne Howard (Robert) of Greenville, Fla., Zabian Bellamy and Nekisha Dudley both of Valdosta, 17 grandchildren, three sisters, Willie Lee Oxendine and Geneva Forbes (Alphonso) both of Plant City, Fla., and Lola Dudley of Miami, Fla., two brothers, Robert Dudley (Tina) of West Virginia and Roosevelt Dudley (Linda) of St. Petersburg, Fla., grandchildren, great grandchildren, godson, Gregory “Yogi” Robinson of Valdosta, Special friends, Leroy Smith, Hazel White and John Lee Gray, devoted nephew, Claude Lane of Jennings, Fla., also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

 A special thanks to Dr. Ven Chiang and the RAI Dialysis Care Center Staff, Dr. Lance Underwood, Georgia Home Health Services and the Family Health Care.

 Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11 a.m., at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Thomas J. Haynes, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Second Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery in Morven, Ga.  Public viewing will be held on today from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Stevens Funeral Home of Valdosta.
