John Mainor, 80, of Adel, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Adel. He was born March 23, 1933, in Berrien County to the late Howard and Nancy Elizabeth Taylor Mainor Lee. Mr. Mainor lived most of his life in Cook County and was retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission after 34 years of service. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of Springhead Baptist Church.
Mr. Mainor is survived by his wife, Delores Parrish Mainor of Adel; four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Donna Mainor of Adel, Billy and Lisa Mainor of Adel, Britt and Lora Mainor of Adel, and Brian Mainor of Hahira; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Timmy Norman of Moultrie; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Carolyn Mainor of Hiawassee; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sara Alice and Herbert Hendley of Hiawassee.
Mr. Mainor’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel.
The funeral service will take place Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Springhead Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Duckett and Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to the Pearlman Cancer Center, 2501 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
