Juanita Thigpen, 88, of Quitman, died March 25, 2013, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman.
Juanita was born in Worth County, Ga., on May 2, 1924, to Lester Jerome Thompson and Eugenia Potts Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Jesse Thigpen Jr. Mrs. Thigpen was a long-time resident of both Brooks County, Ga., and Madison County Fla., living in the Greenville, Fla., area after being wed to Bill Thigpen in 1949. She worked in various jobs throughout her life, including working for the railroad during the war years in the 1940s. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, enjoying arts and crafts and life on the farm. She was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church in Quitman, Ga.
She is survived by four sons, Glenn (Kathleen), Byron (Teresa), Billy, and Allen; and one daughter, Teresa Bibin (Frank); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces. Also by one brother, Ralph Thompson (Lala); and one sister, Marjorie Bailey, both of Tallahassee, Fla.
A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, Fla., at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, with Pastor Larry Harris officiating.
