Roy Gatlin, 74, of Statenville, Ga., died on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on September 3, 1939 in Sasser, Ga. to the late Theodore and Mattie Hollingsworth Gatlin. Mr. Gatlin was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a retired self-employed truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Judy Pafford Gatlin of Statenville; son, Steve Gatlin of Macon, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Roger Ribbke of Reddick, Ill.; sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Kathleen Pafford of Statenville and David and Leslie Gatlin of Birmingham, Ala.; daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy Gatlin of Panasoffkee, Fla.and Kari and Kevin Brown of Hahira, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, Joshua Gatlin, Lacey Gatlin, Trey Ribbke, T.J. Ribbke, Tyler Bridgers, Atalia Surdi, Thomas Gatlin, Patrick Gatlin, Patricia Gatlin, Madison Gatlin, Kaycee Pafford, Eli Pafford and Gavin Brown; a sister, Frances Fitzgerald of Hawkinsville, Ga.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Chip Gatlin and 8 brothers and sisters.
A graveside service for Roy Gatlin will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Chris Martin officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park, Ga.
