Janice K. Hamel 61, of Valdosta passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 following a lengthy illness. She was born on Nov. 20 1952, in Grand Forks, N.D. Mrs. Hamel was an artist/framer and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Mrs. Hamel is survived by her husband, Raymond F. Hamel Jr., of Valdosta: two daughters and one son-in-law, Stephanie (Roger) Dowling of Valdosta, Holly Hamel of Atlanta; two sons, Joseph Hamel and Jon Hamel both of Valdosta; a granddaughter, Danielle Sharon, Gulf Port, Miss.; two grandsons, Will Sharon of Kerrville, Texas; and Brosy Gossett of Atlanta, Ga.; her parents Morris A. and Patricia J. Boushee Kobetsky; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Raymond F. Hamel, Sr., and Sue Schultz. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers, Patricia Kobetsky, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Cynthia Snider (Michael) Evergreen, Colo.; Carolyn Larson (Jay), Grand Forks, N.D.; James Kobetsky (Joanne) Grand Forks, N.D.; and Tony Kobetsky (Caryol), Grand Forks, N.D.
A funeral mass for Mrs. Hamel will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Ray Levreault officiating.
