Maurice William Lindauer

-- — Dr. Maurice William Lindauer, 88 of Valdosta, Ga. passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 in South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 25, 1924 in Millstadt, Ill. to the late Herbert J and Pearl (Maserang) Lindauer. He received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. and then attended Harvard University obtaining a Master’s of Education Degree. He also received a Ph.D. in chemistry at FSU. He retired as head of the Chemistry Department at Valdosta State University.  Dr. Lindauer was a member of the American Chemical Society, Society of Sigma XI, and the Harvard Club of Georgia. He was a member of First Christian Church. His hobbies included wood working, reading, and watching the Atlanta Braves. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

His survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jane Ruth Lindauer of Valdosta; daughters, Jane and Lamar Elder of Hazelhurst; Rosemary and Bill Brannen of Valdosta; son, Maurice Jack Lindauer of Valdosta; grandchildren, Jennifer Hufford, Johnathan Elder, Ben Brannen, Rebecca Karlowicz, Ashley Lindauer, Lauren Lindauer, and Austin Lindauer; two great-grandchildren, Cole Hufford, and Marin Karlowicz; sisters-in-law, Marian Hudson and Amaryllis Burchette; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Valdosta, with burial to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to service at the church.
