Mrs. Christine Kirkland Duke, 87, of Adel, Ga., passed away Friday May 10, 2013 at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel, GA. She was born November 25, 1925, in Pearson, Ga., to the late William Broughton Kirkland and Margaret Amelie Parker Kirkland. She lived most of her life in Cook County and was a homemaker and member of Adel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Duke is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Jan Saunders of Sparks, Ga., and Kirk and Melissa Duke of Moultrie, Ga.; one daughter, Donna Saunders of Duluth, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Christopher W. Seabolt of Bonn, Germany, Kim and Jeff Shoup of Atlanta, GA, Kelly and Dave Sack of Marietta, Ga., Eric and Danielle Saunders of Valdosta, Ga., Melissa and Jonathan Rogers of Valdosta, Ga., Glenn and Erin Saunders of Nashville, Tenn., Christy and Bruce Stripling of Adel, GA, Blake Duke of Adel, GA, and Kyle Duke of Moultrie, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vinson Duke, and her brother, Broughton Parker Kirkland.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening May 12, 2013, from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel, Ga.. The funeral service will take place Monday May 13, 2013, at 11 am at Adel United Methodist Church, 214 S. Hutchinson Ave., with Rev. Dillard Ensley officiating.
