Services for Jimmy Darriel Spires, 58, will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Okapilco Baptist Church, 1565 Okapilco Church Road, Quitman, Ga.
Mr. Spires passed away suddenly April 30, 2013, at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
His family will receive friends at 1 p.m. with the service to follow at 2 p.m. at the church and interment immediately afterwards in the church cemetery.
Born July 19, 1954, in Brooks County Hospital, Mr. Spires was a long-term resident of the Okapilco Community. The son of James Daniel (J.D.) Spires and Mary Baldree Spires, he was a partner in Spires & Sons Farm before moving to Pinetta, Fla., area in 1994. Most recently, he made his home in Boston, Ga. An electrician by training, he was everyone’s handyman where he employed many self-taught skills including basic carpentry and plumbing. He was really good at troubleshooting, analyzing the problem and developing creative solutions.
Survivors include son, Arthur James (A.J.), his wife Valerie and their two children, Christian James (C.J.) and Kaitlynn of Jennings, Fla.; son, Darriel Thomas, his wife Vicky and their three children Heather, Thomas, and Joe of Pinetta, Fla.; son, Lucas Kevin of Broadway, N.C.; stepchildren, Ryanne Walker with Ricky Lofton and children Kaylee Rai and Owen; Dennis O’Neal, Ren, Logan, and Sidney Davis; one brother, Howard of Biscayne Park, Fla.; and one sister, Ann McCrickard of Boston, Ga.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends in north Florida and south Georgia.
Mr. Spires was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Spires.
