William Giles ‘Bill’ Talley Jr.

VALDOSTA — William Giles “Bill” Talley Jr., of Leesburg, Fla., passed away June 9, 2013. Bill was born on Sept. 25, 1939, to William G. and Mary (McGlamry) Talley Sr. in Adel, Ga. He was married to Jacqueline “Jackie” Vickery Talley for 53 years. They moved to Leesburg in 1961.

His education included a B.S. in management from the University of South Carolina and he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; and father, William G. Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie; sons, William Giles (Joyce) Talley III of Atlanta, and John Lindsey (Tyla) Talley of Colorado; and daughter, Bronwyn Ashley (Steve) Bucy of Ocala; and nine grandchildren, Giles, Thomas, Will, Adair, Austin, Carter, Harrison, Teagan and Talley. Also surviving is a brother, George Talley of Valdosta; and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Marianne) Darby of Adel.

His life experiences included Talley Box Company, Sun Trust Bank, N.A. of Lake County-Board of Directors, Sun Trust Bank, N.A. of Orlando-Board of Directors, Leesburg Hospital Association, Cornerstone Hospice-Board of Directors, Central Florida Health Care Development Foundation, Inc-Board of Directors, member and on the Administrative Board of Morrison United Methodist Church, Bethune Cookman College-Board of Trustees, North Lake County Hospital District-Board of Trustees and the Air National Guard. He was a member of the Beef Masters and the Cattlemen Association. Bill was proud of his family and community. His life evolved around improving opportunities wherever possible.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Morrison United Methodist Church, Leesburg, with the Rev. John Harrington, the Rev. Karen Burris and the Rev. Dr. M. McCoy Gibbs officiating.

Bill loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. In following his lifelong pattern of providing improved opportunities, the family lovingly requests contributions made on his behalf be sent to Leesburg Regional Medical Center Foundation, 600 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg, FL 34748 and Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162 in lieu of flowers.
