Mary Catherine Parrish Gordon, 93, passed away 6/16/2013 into the care of our Lord.
Mary Catherine was born in Fenholloway, Fla. She graduated from Hahira High School, Hahira, Ga., ins 1938, moving to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Preceded in death by her parents, Willie H. Phelps and Jesse Mae Roundtree Phelps, her brother, Marvin H. Phelps Sr., nephew Marvin H. Phelps Jr., grandsons Lee Marsh Jr. and Bradley Parrish. Widowed by Stanley K. Parrish in 1964, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Haynes T. Gordon in 1996, Plantation, Fla. Mary was an artificial floral designer in Pompano Beach and Plantation for many years and Hahira after retirement. Mom enjoyed many creative design endeavors throughout her lifetime, including short story writing.
She is survived by her sister, Willie Mae Register of Sparks, Ga.; her children, daughter Mary Virginia Grygiel (Robert) of Ocala, Fla., sons Michael T. Parrish (Susan) of Sunrise, Fla., and Gary B. Parrish (Jo-ellen), Indiatlantic, Fla.; stepdaughters Susan Marsh (Lee Sr.), Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Patricia Fernandez (Aurelio) of Plantation; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephew, Mack Sharpe (Betts) of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; and nieces Hariette Parrish-Rossi, Wayne, N.J., and Carol (Lonny) Jones of Gainesville, Fla.
Internment will be at Salem Church Cemetery, Hahira, at a later date. Remember Our Mother with a smile and a prayer as she did you, touching all of our lives for so many years with love and kindness.
