Duria Lee Thomas Christian, a resident of Ocala, Fla., was born in Cuthbert, Ga., Dec. 9, 1931, to the late Alexander Thomas and Minnie Lee Manning Thomas. She passed away on June 17, 2013 in Ocala, Fla.
Mrs. Christian accepted Christ at an early age and was devoted to the service of her Lord and Savior. She married the late Diamond Christian, March 13, 1948, and to that union two children were born.
Mrs. Christian worked for the Dodd family of Barwick for many years. She also worked and managed The Day’s Inn Restaurant in Thomasville, Ga. She moved to Thomasville in 1974, after her husband’s death.
Survivors include her loving children, daughter, Marjorie Holden and son, Rudolph Christian Sr. (Joyce); three grandchildren, Nicole Allen (Derek), Reginald G. Christian, and Adrienne C. Christian; two great-grandchildren, Diamon and Mya Allen; five sisters, Hazel Blackman, Mozella Fletcher, Shirley Hightower (Willie), Gwendolyn Randolph (Everett) and Jacquelyn Sneed (Robert); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Sally Christian, Mable and Ervin Robinson, Reverend T.L. and Hannah Rean King, Joe and Dorothy Wolfe, Bernice Thomas, Walter Truman Christian, and numerous dear friends and relatives.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Greater 2nd Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Albany, Ga. Pastor Lorenzo Heard will officiate.
The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 6-7 p.m. today at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home in Quitman. Burial will follow in Beulah Hill Cemetery in Quitman.
