VALDOSTA — Theda (MUV) B. Chaney, 86, of Lake Park, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at Fellowship Nursing Home in Brooks County. She was born on Feb. 2, 1927, in Miami, Fla., to the late Grover Hudson and Edna (Peeples) Carter. Mrs. Chaney was retired from O&I and was best known for her cakes and catering. She was a member of Clyattville United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Chaney was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Chaney; and a sister, Charlotte Smith.

Mrs. Chaney is survived by her children, Steven (Victoria) Chaney of Lake Park, Twyla (Don) Selph of Lake Park; grandchildren, Donya (Anthony) Coggins, Brent (Christy) Chaney, Lisa (Chris) Guest, Kilia (Chad) McLeod, Shannon (Holley) Chaney, all of Lake Park; great-grandchildren, Ginna and Halleigh Chaney, Lindsay and Perry Coggins, Christian and Cason Guest, Caleb, Weston and Wyatt McLeod, Gareth Chaney, Rachel Woodward, Amanda (Matt) Hively; great-great-grandchild, Zoey Hively; brothers and sisters-in-law, Grover Hudson (Cindy) Carter, Donald (Edna) Carter; several nieces and nephews; and several extended family members.

Funeral service will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at Clyattville United Methodist Church with a private burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Clyattville United Methodist Church, 5311 Railroad St., Valdosta, GA 31601.
