-- — Joseph William “Jody” Matt III, 70, of Chula, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

 Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Tifton with Rev. Stephen L. Webb and Rev. Joy Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

 Pallbearers are, Bob Hammond, Dr. Jim Scott, Ken Beasley, Jeff Fender, Dr. Bill Smith, Gary Vowell, Dr. Kevin Cleveland and Shannon Sledge. Honorary pallbearers are the employees of Medtech of Georgia.

 Jody was born January 11, 1943 in Macon to the late Joseph William Matt, II and the late Ruby Bullard Matt. He was a 1961 graduate of Macon County High School and a 1963 graduate of Middle Georgia College. Jody served in the U.S. Army. He was founder and co-owner of Medtech of Georgia. Jody spent his entire career helping other people through medical device sales and was recognized throughout his career with numerous sales awards with Syntex Pharmaceuticals, Osteonics and as a Distributor for Biomet Orthopedics. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tifton and an original member of the Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation. Throughout his life he built many lasting friendships and these friends were an integral part of his life. Love of his family and generosity to others were the cornerstone of his character and life.

 Jody is survived by his wife, Sheila Gill Matt of Chula; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph William “Joey” Matt, IV and Pam of Tifton; grandchildren, Joseph William “Will” Matt, V, Benjamin Morgan “Ben” Matt and Peyton Elise Matt, all of Tifton.
