-- — Mr. David F. Darby, 93, of Adel, Georgia, passed away Saturday June 15, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.  He was born November 21, 1919, in Albany, Georgia to the late William Lafayette Darby and Kate Adcock Darby.  Mr. Darby lived in Cook County the past 68 years and was a World War II veteran where he served in the U.S. Army.  He was a retired lumber salesman with Adel Trading Company and a member of the First Baptist Church of Adel.

Mr. Darby is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Darby of Chula, Georgia, and Liz Darby of Chula, Georgia, and another daughter-in-law, Mary Darby of Dublin, Georgia; three grandchildren, Paris Darby of Moultrie, Georgia, Jordan Darby of Chula, Georgia, and Julie and Brian Grooms of Dublin, Georgia; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Branch Darby, and a son, Jack Darby.

Mr. Darby's family will receive friends Monday evening, June 17, 2013, from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, Georgia.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Adel with Rev.
