Pearl Davis Ricks, 94, of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Lakeland Convalescent Center in Lakeland. She was born in Savannah on Oct. 26, 1918, the daughter of the late Britton Ware Davis Jr. and Anna Hannigan Davis. She was a graduate of Tift County High School. Mrs. Ricks was a homemaker and a Baptist. She loved animals, playing the piano, fishing, quail hunting and watching sunsets on Long Pond.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Mel Ricks Jr. and June of Lake Park; grandchildren, Clay and Christine Ward of Jacksonville, Fla., Dena K. Brimmage of Hahira, Rea and Carol Ricks of Bradenton, Fla., Patricia Myers of Hahira; great-grandchildren, Justin Brimmage and Tommy Brimmage of Hahira, Megan Ward and Lauren Ward of New Bern, N.C., Brittany and Patrick Clendenning of Germany, Britton Davis Ricks and Matthew Ricks of Bradenton, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ricks was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Ricks Sr.; and her brothers, Randall W. Davis and Britton W. Davis III.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton. The Rev. Bob Ellis will officiate. The family will receive friends at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. today. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Georgia Sheriff’s Boys Ranch, 5671 GA highway #122 East Hahira, GA 31632.
