Shirley Bryant Cross, 77, of Adel, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel. She was born Oct. 8, 1935 in Cochran, Ga., to the late John Monroe Bryant and Bertha Mullis Bryant. She was a resident of Cook County since 1969, and was a Baptist. She was also a retired forklift operator with Weyerhauser.
Mrs. Cross is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Danny and Paula Cross of Cecil, Ranny and Renne Cannon of Cochran, Lanny Cross of Cochran, Ricky Cross of Adel, Ga., and Terry and Regina Cross of Sparks; two daughters, Debby Wheeler, Tammy Sparks and friend Bit Garvitte, all of Adel; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Vera Alexander of Hawkinsville, Sally Dykes of Gainesville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold “Buddy” Cross, and five brothers and sisters.
The Cross family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel.
Funeral service will take place Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Bro. James Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 8879 Val-Del Road in Adel.
