Rev. Charles Horne, 77, of Adel, passed away at his home Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, following a long illness. He was born Nov. 22, 1935, in Pinehurst, Ga., to the late George Pate Horne Sr. and Allie Joiner Horne. He lived in Cook County most of his life. Rev. Horne was a member of Community Calvary Holiness Church and was also a retired Holiness minister for more than 40 years in which capacity he had served many churches. He was also a retired line crew foreman with Colquitt EMC after 42 years of service.
Rev. Horne is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Jean King Horne of Adel; son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Julie Horne of Moultrie; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jeaneane and Richard Gandy of McDonough, Shelby Horne of Rex, Ga., Amy and Phillip Brooks of McDonough; his grandchildren, Jessica Gandy-Weaver and her husband, Jonathan Weaver of Atlanta, Carly Horne and Hannah Welsh, both of Moultrie, Ashley Brooks and Callie Brooks of McDonough; one great-granddaughter, Kailyn Cash of Atlanta; a sister and brother-in-law, Allie Jean and Billy Betts of Adel.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Horne, Robert Horne and George Pate Horne Jr.; and a sister, Doris Freeman.
The Horne family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Community Calvary Holiness Church, 1180 Community Church Road in Adel with the Rev. Vernon Hughes, the Rev. Silas Carver and the Rev. Cliff Foster officiating. Interment will follow in Fellowship Church Cemetery in Cecil.
