Catherine Neri Warren, 91, died Oct. 21, 2013. Born in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of Italian immigrants from Mileto, Italy, whose first language was Italian. Her love of her family and compassion for others inspired her children.
She is survived by her son, Mark Warren, of Ray City, Ga.; daughter, Rosemarie Warren LeMoine, of Seattle, Wash. and Rosemarie’s husband, Norman; along with three grandchildren, Christina LeMoine, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gabriel LeMoine of Seattle, Wash., and Julian LeMoine, of Prescott, Ariz. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Neri, of New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews.
The family especially thanks Sister Pauline Oetgen and Sister Rebecca Campbell, and the Sisters of St. Joseph, for their many kindnesses to Catherine. In 2011, Catherine and Sister Pauline, along with Rosemarie and her family, returned to Mileto, Italy, where they met the family her parents had left behind so many years before. That trip and the joyous reunion with the family was a wonderful time.
Catherine was married to Billy Franklin Warren, who predeceased her. It was his love of his family’s farm in Ray City that brought them here, and although at first, Catherine found country life difficult, she grew to love it, and never wanted to leave.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Valdosta, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sisters of St. Joseph, care of St. John’s Catholic Church, Valdosta, Ga., in her honor.
