--- — Paula Keen, 88, of Valdosta, Ga., and formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Smith Northview Hospital. She was born on January 31, 1925 in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Forrest W. and Maggie Isabelle (Cooper) Harbin. She graduated as the valedictorian from Southport High School, Indianapolis, in April 1943 and married her childhood sweetheart, Marion B. Keen, on June 30, 1946.

Paula worked as a church secretary before becoming a full time homemaker. She was a charter member of her home congregation, Southport Heights Christian Church, and actively served as a Sunday school teacher, deaconess, and volunteer for over 35 years. She also worked as a secretary for OMS International before she and her husband retired to Valdosta in 1982.

While in Valdosta, Paula volunteered for over 25 years at South Georgia Medical Center with the Ladies’ Auxiliary. She attended First Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling to visit her extended family.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Marion, her son, Mike and his wife Cathy and their children Ryan and Robyn, her daughter, Lisa and son-in-law David Mills and their children, Jacob and Sophia, and her daughter-in-law, Ellen and her children Audrey and Moira, her brother, Kenneth Harbin, her sister, Beverly Harbin, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Don and her brother, Wayne.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Valdosta and interment will be held at a later date at Memorial Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family will receive friends at Music Funeral Services on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary, 2501 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, Ga., 31602.
