-- — Mrs. Helen McGhee Goolsby was born to the late Elmer McGhee and Effie Demps McGhee on August 13, 1950 in Quitman, Georgia.  She was educated in the Brooks County public school system.  She relocated to Miami, Florida in 1969 and remained there until her Lord and Savior called her Home on March 29, 2013.

Helen was united in Holy matrimony to Mr. Andrew Lee Goolsby, Sr. in 1979.  She was a nice, kind, considerate mentor to many; a thoughtful, genuine person that was fun to be around; she was a funny person who loved to talk and laugh with family and friends.  Her love for people led her to a career in Veterans Administration.  She was a God fearing, praying woman and was a member of Koinonia Worship Center.

Helen leaves to cherish her loving memories; her loving, devoted husband, Andrew L. Goolsby, Sr., Miami, FL; her loving children, Keith McGhee, Sr. (Judeline “Lynne”), Orlando, FL, Angel Johnson (James) and Andrew L. Goolsby, Jr. all of Miami, FL; six grandchildren, Keith McGhee, Jr., Kendra McGhee, Keenan McGhee, Kiara Johnson, Shakira Johnson and James Johnson, Jr.; her siblings, Hugh McGhee, Sr., Jim McGhee, Sr., Willie McGhee, Sr. (Nora), Brenda McGhee, Eugene McGhee, Sr. (Mary) all of Quitman, GA, Elmer Lee Bell (Roy), Winston Salem, NC, Irene Williams (Willie),  Miami, FL; four aunts, Missie Demps, Juliette Demps, both of Quitman, GA, Arvella Jackson of Valdosta, Ga.; Louise Demps, Fuquay, NC; one uncle, George McGee, Miami, FL; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Milton Goolsby, Wray, GA, Annie Bell Marshall, Ocilla, GA, Corine Shaw, Miami, FL, Charlie Gooseby, Sumter, SC, Esther Goolsby and James Goolsby both of Miami, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at Bethel A.M.E Church with Rev. Patrick Brinson, Pastor and Pastor Willie James Walden, officiating.  Burial will follow in the North End Cemetery.  Visitation will take place at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Chapel between the hours of 4 P.M. and 9 P.M.  — Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home in Quitman, GA.
