Ronnie Thomas Sr., 70, of Valdosta, Ga., passed away Nov. 9, 2013 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born on Feb. 11, 1943 in Valdosta, Ga. to the late Wade Robert and Doma (Allen) Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a conductor and an engineer for CSX Railroad. He and his twin brother, Robert, began working with CSX Railroad on the same day and after 41 years of service they retired together on the very same day. He was a member of the Azalea City Church of God.
His survivors include his wife, Verna Thomas of Hahira; son and daughter-in-law, Wade Thomas (Jane), Jr. of Lakeland, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, David Moore (Nancy) of Lake Park; daughter, Brenda Moore Jarrett of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Amanda Thomas, Anna Clair Wooten Singuefield (Taylor), Andrew Wooten, Deveraux Jarrett, Leslie Moore, Eric Moore, Z. Michael Spires (Nichole), Jannie Spires (Devon), and Sean Spires (Meagan); brother and sister-in-law, Robert Thomas (Betty) of Auburndale, Fla.; several brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; and several extended family members.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with a burial to follow at 1 p.m. in Shiloh Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Homerville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
