Win Corry Weldon, age 87, of Lake Park, Ga., passed away March 24, 2013. The son of Winfield Dana and Margaret (Corry) Weldon was born Sept. 13, 1925 in New York, N.Y. His wife, Maria A. Weldon, predeceased him in1985. He was also predeceased by his son, Win Corry Weldon, Jr. in 2011. He leaves behind children Claudia, C. Raymond, Christopher A. and John M. Weldon and Annamarie George. Additionally he is survived by 13 grandchildren.
He served as a Lieutenant in the USAAF from 1943-1946 and then graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1948. He married Lucile Betty Andrews, whom he met at the University of Maryland, Oct. 23, 1948. They divorced in 1967. He then married Maria A. Emerson Sept. 26, 1969.
Starting in financial services in 1949, he had a long and distinguished career in Insurance and Investment Banking and was a leading agent and then manager with Phoenix Mutual. In 1966, he became part of the formation and management of National Life of Florida and Voyager Variable Annuity Companies. He managed the separate account investments and led the sales organization for the Variable Annuity Company. In 1971, he returned to Phoenix Mutual where he completed his career in sales management.
He won many awards including the coveted Jim Tapp Trophy in 1986 after selection by top management and his peers. He retired after 30 years with Phoenix, but still remained active advising clients up until a few years ago. Just one of his unique accomplishments was studying for only 30 days and successfully completing all five courses required to receive his CLU professional designation Sept. 27, 1961.
He will be remembered most for his perseverance, compassion for others when in need, and indomitable spirit. He will be missed by his family very much, but we rest in knowing that he no longer labors to breathe and has received his reward in Heaven.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday April 26, 2013 at Calvary Chapel Boca Raton, 1551 Camino Real, Boca Raton, FL.
