Mrs. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bryan, of Lenox, Ga., passed away Monday April 1, 2013 at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Ga. She was born July 22, 1925 to the late Benjamin Franklin Phillips and Willie Lee Sellars Phillips in Florida but has lived most of her life in Cook County. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Grove Church of God.
Mrs. Bryan is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Betty Ann Bryan of Blackshear, Ga., and Carlton and Donna Bryan of Bainbridge, Ga.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Laverne and Ray Gene Sumner of Lenox, Marie and Jim Burroughs of Naylor, Ann and Braxton Grantham of Tifton, and Donna and Larry Kinchen of McIntyre, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Rev. J.C. Bryan, and a granddaughter, Leigh Roberts.
The family will receive friends this evening, April 3, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel, Ga. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado, Ga., at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Todd Garner and the Rev. Tommy Dorman officiating. Her grandson, Chad Sumner, will provide the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Union Grove Church of God Cemetery with the Rev. Shane Ashley providing the prayer.
